Founder

Jim Brockardt, who founded BCG Valuations in 2005, spent his entire 45-year career assisting both the owners of public and private businesses and their professional advisors.  Working on behalf of hundreds of clients in the areas of securities valuation, ownership planning and litigation support, he developed logical, credible and supportable stock, debt and partnership valuations used in the contexts of tax planning and filing, transactions in minority and controlling interests, fairness opinions, SEC compliance, marital and corporate litigation, shareholder communication and ESOPs, among others.  Jim testified as an expert in business valuation on more than two dozen occasions, including court appointments and on behalf of the Federal government.  Mr. Brockardt was an accredited appraiser for 32 years.

Jim was frequently asked to address CLE programs around the country on the topic of business valuation and lectured annually at the University of Miami – School of Law, Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning.

A magna cum laude graduate of Bethany College (where he was awarded the Chapman Prize for excellence in the study of history), Jim earned an MBA in finance and accounting from Rutgers University.  He then undertook post-graduate studies in taxation at New York University.

Not long after retiring from the practice in 2020, Jim was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. With the cancer in remission following a bone marrow transplant in 2021, he has devoted much of his spare time to funding leukemia research and ancillary efforts in patient care by establishing the Live It Forward Fund at the University of Pennsylvania.  Jim was named the 2023 Distinguished Partner in Hope by Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.
